Justin Medcalf - Director of Financial Services

Justin is an everyday Australian with a passion for a sustainable future.

Justin has had a diverse background in the financial planning industry dating back to 2003. Starting his career as a technical strategist for a small financial planning firm in North Sydney, before taking on multiple roles at two of Australia's top three Adviser Groups, ranging from training Financial Planners to compliance management.

As Justin has worked in all facets of the Financial Planning industry, he is able to bring that knowledge into addressing our clients needs and providing them with the best possible outcome. Justin is a progressive, lateral thinkers and believes by cleaning your money you can create a better tomorrow, today.

Justin holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting, an Advanced Diploma in Financial Services, is a Justice of the Peace and a proud Fellow of the Centre for Sustainability Leadership. He is also currently enrolled in a Graduate Certificate in Environmental Systems, Markets and Climate Change.

Nick Bonich - Director of Business Strategy

Nick is a serial entrepreneur who over the last 18 months has co-founded and built BudTrap, a range of iPhone/iPod accessories to tap into the growing Apple consumer product ecosystem. Prior to this, Bonich has held a number of positions in product marketing (specialising in retail and B2C solutions), most notably as Sales & Marketing Manager for Frontier Music Group, a chain of general musical instrument stores built from scratch.

Having recently moved to Sydney, Bonich has become an active member of the Sydney cycling community, working with council, advocacy groups and industry to promote safe, sustainable transport. He holds a Master of Applied Commerce (Marketing) degree as well as a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science, both from University of Melbourne.

Lu Sun - Social Media Coordinator

Lu was one of the first participants in the GEM Internship Program, where she was able to learn about all aspects of the business and gain practical experience on how to save the world.

Lu has now taken on the role of Social Media Co-ordinator as she is also studying a Graduate Diploma in Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney.

Lu also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geoscience and a Bachelor of Arts (Japanese Studies), both from Univesity of NSW.

Julie Medcalf - Accounts & Administration Trainee

Julie has been involved at GEM since the very beginning, servng a range of administration roles and support for her son, Justin. She has a long list of accademic courses to her name and is currently embarked on a Certificate 3 in Business Administration.

Julie is extremely passionate about minimising her impact on the planet, which is why she works at GEM and is proud to have started a neighbourhood contest over who can have more PV solar on their roof.

Victoria Rose - Advisory Board Chairperson

Victoria has a strong interest in driving business value through the development of sustainable strategy with a solutions focus. She is currently working for UGL overseeing the sustainability management of the NSW State Property Authority Portolio. Her background within Australia's national stevedoring industry saw her move from operational efficiency toward a more environmental and resource focus. She has been involved in NGERS and EEO reporting, national project management, behavioural awareness campaigns, strategy development/ execution and large-scale business case developments.

Holding a Bachelor of Commerce from both Sydney and Harvard University, Victoria is now pursuing a Masters of Sustainability and a Fellowship with the Centre for Sustainable Leadership. She is a member and scholarsip holder of the logistics Association of Australia and is passionate about the continual growth of sustainablity as a true profession. She is strongly committed to understanding business evolution and change management.

Her vision is to see organisations embrace sustainability as a way of life whilst improving their bottom line, culture and competitive position in the market place.

Nick James - Advisory Board Member

Nick is the co-founder and a Director of Optim Legal, an innovative, law firm staffed exclusively by top tier experienced lawyers which focuses on serving the cleantech and new media industries. Nick's experience includes five years as a solicitor in Freehills and Allens and three years as a freelance litigation project manager for various corporate and law firm clients.

Nick has a First Class Honours Law degree from the University of Melbourne and worked for a year as an Associate to Justice Michael Kirby (AC, CMG) of the Australian High Court.

Nick brings his experience as an entrepreneur and his contacts in the clean tech industry to the advisory board at Green Equity Management.

Treacy Sheehan - Advisory Board Member

Treacy ran the recruitment arm of the group of companies specialising in debtor risk management and administration from 1998 until 2001. She has an Advanced Diploma of Marketing Management and a 12-year sales and marketing background within the hospitality and recruitment industry.

Treacy is a Director of trace Personnel, an active member of the Recruitment & Consulting Services Association (RCSA) and an Associate Member of the Australian Institute of Credit Management (AICM).

Adrian Farquhar - Advisory Board Member

Adrian has been involved with GEM since it's early beginnings as a respected source of ongoing advice. He has an enate ability to streamline any process to maximise operational efficiencies. This ability has seen him rise from an entry-level employee to a multi-region manager at Avaya with a team based in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

He is passionate about building good business and views sustainability as essential to our prosperous future.

Dr Nicholas Henschke - Advisory Board Member

Nicholas has a background in physiotherapy, having graduated in 2002 with first class honours at the University of Sydney, Australia. After working as a physiotherapist in a variety of public and private health care settings, he returned to the University of Sydney to complete his doctorate in research.

He currently holds a post-doctoral training fellowship from the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council, and is a joint fellow of the George Institute for International Health in Sydney, Australia and the EMGO+ Institute for Health and Care Research in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His current work focuses mainly on primary health care, musculoskeletal pain, and research methodology.

With a focus on developing and implementing high quality research projects, he is able to use his attributes and international experience to provide an objective and constructive contribution to the GEM Advisory Board. His personal interest in promoting environmental awareness and sustainability are akin to the aims of GEM and is humbled to have the opportunity to participate in this endeavour.
